Airport Transfer – Izmir to Kusadasi Options

Until recently the minibus shuttle from Izmir Adnan Menderes (ADB) airport to Kusadasi was a well-kept secret. Taxi companies had the monopoly and tourists had no option but to take a cab from Izmir. Taxi apps are still a rarity in Turkey but there are now many options for travel between Turkey’s third-biggest city and one of its most popular Aegean Coast resorts.

Airport Transfers between Izmir and Kusadasi are much easier now thanks to various minibus and coach companies providing airport transfers in both directions many times a day. Here are some of the companies offering this service.

First of all, if you want the safest and fastest way to get from the airport to town try an online pre-book shuttle service for Izmir to Kusadasi transfers. It’s surprisingly economical, you can book a return trip, and everything is paid for and recorded online.

Shuttle Bus and Car Transfer

Prices for hotel shuttles by minivan or car are the lowest on 12Go, a site that covers Southeast Asia, Turkey, Eastern European and Middle Eastern cities. Adnan Menderes Airport to Kusadasi should cost less than $35 for max 3 passengers.

Car Rental

Hiring a car is a great option for independent travellers. The freedom to go anywhere at any time makes it worth the cost. But car rental isn’t always the most expensive option. Shared between several people renting a car can be one of the most affordable ways to get to and from the airport and around Kusadasi. You’ll have the car for the entire time so you will also save on transport to the beaches and tourist attractions.

Europcar has consistently offered the best value in most places. Start there.

Taxi Transfer

One of the fastest ways to complete your journey is to take a taxi. Prices should cost $30-55 (€26-47) as of September 2021 and transfer time from Izmir Airport to Kusadasi is around 1 hour. It’s the same time on the way back.

Don’t let the long-winded title of Ephesus Tours & Transfers Taxi company put you off. They come highly rated as a private transfer company and, of course, they offer tours of the ancient ruins of Ephesus.

If you’d like to search through various options for transfers, try the excellent Rome2Rio website where various options are displayed, including rideshare costs (where you share a private car to your destination).

Train Transfer

It is possible to get to Kusadasi by train from the airport (Havaalani) but it’s not the most convenient way of travelling.
The nearest train station is Selçuk, at a distance of 18km from the town. From there you can take a bus (every 4 hours) or a taxi.

Rideshare

If you don’t mind sharing a car with complete strangers (and non-professional drivers) and you relish the opportunity to make friends along the way then check out ridesharing through BlaBlaCar. It’s a cheap, if not very convenient, way of travelling from Izmir (with possible connections in Izmir Airport) to Kusadasi and vice-versa.
